I would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for his outstanding contribution to the leadership of the finance team. It is never easy to make a meaningful contribution in such a short period of time, but Peter has added significant value to the finance team during this period for which I am very grateful.
Peter has led a number of key projects on my behalf at ASC and Exact Mining Services. His strong leadership resulted in the projects delivering all the specified outcomes on budget and on time, as well as a significant knowledge transfer to my staff. Peter’s approach was very collaborative ensuring engagement of key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation resulting in buy-in across the business. Peter’s ability to challenge the status quo was also key in delivering process change and improvement in our performance.
As chairman of our Board, Peter provided strong leadership and direction to the Directors / Business Owners. Peter brought significant corporate experience, injecting discipline and structure to our Board meetings and ensuring all challenges were appropriately discussed and handled. Peter led the development of our strategic plan providing guidance, advice and support in preparing our strategic plan. Peter also played a key role in the development of appropriate KPI’s and reporting to allow the effective management of our business. Having Peter on board has been crucial for us to understand our business better and pave a successful path forward.
Peter led a project to undertake a comprehensive independent cost of care study for ECH jointly with UnitingCare Ageing NSW and Blue Care QLD to help identify the activities and the associated costs of delivering services to residents. The project involved working closely with our residential care leaders in designing and conducting workshops with site managers, care workers, nurses and others to determine the key service delivery drivers. Peter and his team engaged effectively at all levels of our business, from care workers at our sites to the finance staff and the Executive group, conducting the workshops and presentations with sensitivity and understanding. The results of the study were thoroughly analysed and well presented to the Executive of all three organisations. Peter provided great leadership in assisting us to get beyond the numbers to the underlying drivers of our costs. He and his team effectively engaged with all levels of the organisation, with sensitivity and understanding. I would happily engage Peter again should we require external assistance with similar projects in the future.
Peter was instrumental in helping me transition ElectraNet’s Information Technology function towards a new operating model, to better position IT for the more challenging business environment it has to face in the future. Engaged on a part-time basis over a 7-month period, Peter was central to us achieving excellent outcomes across a number of important elements of the transition process including:Peter’s professional, authentic and straight-talking approach to this challenging assignment made all the difference for me. He engaged effectively across all levels of our organization; he was a great motivator and, equally, he called out a few elephants in the room that we needed to deal with. In short, he kept it real, meaningful and on-track throughout. I am extremely grateful for Peter’s contribution, it certainly helped put IT at ElectraNet on the right road for longer-term success.
